Fort McMurray International Airport to launch new digital art program

Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM) is launching a Digital Art Exhibit located on the third-floor observation deck of the terminal building.

Award-winning local photographer, Crystal Mercredi and her collection titled “Living in the North” is the first set to be showcased at the attraction.

“I’m so excited to be working with YMM,” says Mercredi. “Enhancing the airport’s existing art collection with a digital initiative is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our rich arts community.”

The Living North exhibit features community residents in the way they experience Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo, with the intent to promote regional pride.

“We are thrilled to use the digital screens throughout our terminal to showcase local artists’ work and pride in Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo,” says Michael Sieger, Vice-President of Air Service & Commercial Development.  “As a gateway to our community, YMM is most often the first impression visitors have when coming here, so it’s important everything throughout our terminal is reflective of our beautiful region.”

The community is invited to join in and celebrate the launch of the Digital gallery on Monday, September 25 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
