GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Local artists, organizations and even non-profits can showcase their work to thousands of travelers with the new GRB Art Program.
Artwork and displays will be made available for viewing in short or long-term spaces depending on the theme or the impact it has on travelers’ experiences.
“When you visit an airport, it’s always nice to see a bit of the local flavor right away,” stated Marty Piette, A.A.E., Airport Director. “With the Art Program, GRB will help local artists and arts-related non-profits get their names and stories out to a large number of people in one setting.”
The GRB Art Program is open to everyone in Northeast Wisconsin and Upper Michigan areas and can include sculptures, paintings, digital art and so much more.
“Art allows for stories to be told in unique ways,” said Piette. “With this program, travelers from all over the world can see all the great things to find, do and learn about are area.”
Local artists are encouraged to submit images of their work to be considered for display at GRB to: susan.levitte@flygrb.com
As part of the Art Program, seasonal events will take place, with the first being the Holiday Tree Decorating Contest.
Artists and non-profit organizations are encouraged to submit design concepts on how they would decorate the 20-foot artificial evergreen tree at the airport.
“The tree doesn’t need to have a traveling theme,” added Piette. “We want the artists or organizations to embrace their vision or values and show them in a creative way.”
The winner of the tree decorating contest will receive $2,000 towards the design and decorating of the tree, which will go on display the week after Thanksgiving. Submission deadline is October 30, and all concepts can be emailed to susan.levitte@flygrb.com or dropped off at the airport administration office located on the second floor of the terminal building.
