Veteran shoe designer Christian Louboutin and Marvel, a major publisher of comic books, announced the partnership on Wednesday, along with the introduction of an exclusive physical capsule collection with the entertainment juggernaut.
If the buyers purchase the physical shoes and accessories, then NFTs are given out as a free bonus. However, veteran shoes from the designer Christian Louboutin are known for their exorbitant prices.
Buyers will receive the “Sea Warrior Special Edition” NFT collectible as a gift if they purchase items from Louboutin’s Marvel capsule. The Sea Warrior Special Edition NFT is designed on the brand’s 100mm high gladiator sandals inspired by classic Marvel Namor and valued at $3,495 for the real deal.
The “Sea Queen” will be given to attendees of the lunch event for the partnership as “digital tokens of appreciation.” A hand-drawn illustration of an original, one-of-a-kind shoe that was purchased at auction, is shown on the collectible. The digital version has Christian Louboutin’s signature.
The VeVe created both tokens on the Ethereum network, an app-based marketplace for licensed digital collectibles. Marvel and other licensed companies like Star Wars and Disney were introduced to the NFT market by VeVe, which specializes in licensed brands. For the interaction with the tokens, the app has a 3D augmented reality photo mode.
The 100-year anniversary celebration for Disney is also linked with this collaboration. 1,500 top clients of Louboutin will receive NFTs and a physical limited-edition comic book featuring the eponymic designer portrayed as a superhero.
