‘My NFTs are worthless’

Anyone who bought a digital artwork over the past two years may well now be worrying about the state of their investment.

Non-fungible tokens (NFT) took off as an investment craze during the pandemic, but the cryptocurrency firm Dappgambl has identified 73,257 NFT collections — of which 69,795 were now worth nothing.

Ted Lawlor is one of those investors. He said he feels like crying when he looks at the video of a heavyweight boxer that he has on his cofmputer.

The seven-second clip depicts the Ukrainian world champion Oleksandr Usyk as an action figure. Lawlor, from south London, spent £600 on the video, which is an NFT, a type of crypto asset. Today it is worth virtually nothing.
