3 Russians Held For Metro Graffiti Art Attempt | Kolkata News

KOLKATA: Three Russian nationals, who were trying to sneak into the Noapara Metro carshed on Tuesday night to give Kolkata a flavour of the graffiti art that adorns subways across Europe, were arrested before they could put the spray cans into use.
The paints found on the trio have been confiscated and they have been fined Rs 4,500 by the Sealdah court.
According to Metro Railway, the three — Paseka Pavel (28), Buksarev Aleksander (25) and David Kondakov (21) — were caught around 11.10 pm on Tuesday while trying to flee after they were spotted by RPF personnel trying to enter the Metro carshed where rakes are kept at Noapara.
“During night patrol near the carshed’s Belgharia gate, RPF sub-inspector D K Vishwakarma noticed three foreigners moving suspiciously inside the restricted area. When challenged they tried to flee but RPF officers and staff managed to nab them. During interrogation, they failed to give any satisfactory reply or produce documents authorising their entry into the carshed,” a Metro Railway spokesperson said.
On searching, four cameras, a head torch, spray paints, bags full of colours were found on them. The three were taken into custody under the Railway Act 1987 and amendment 2003. They were produced in Sealdah court where they were fined.
They later confessed they had entered Noapara carshed to make graffiti on Metro rakes and said they travelled across the world and did this for a thrill.
