New Abyss Online Q&A Reviews Plans For PvE, PvP, And Why NFTs/Blockchain Were Part Of The Plan, But Aren’t Now

abyss_online_faq_feat

About two weeks ago we sat down with the CEO of Old World Labs Nick Liverman and asked him directly about Abyss Online‘s weird history with NFTs and blockchain, the MMORPG‘s planned monetization, and more.

The interview is certainly worth a read (although we may be biased) and sheds some light on a number of “red flags” that popped up when Abyss Online was announced. The game’s previous iteration was tied to blockchain tech, NFTs were part of the plan…and now all that seemed to be out the window, but there was a lack of transparency in some of the original press releases.

Today, the Abyss Online team has posted a full FAQ about the MMO, and yes, the NFT question is addressed there, too. Simply, “Though we considered blockchain a feature initially, after closely evaluating the market for years, we do not see it properly happening in our initial vision. We remain focused on creating a great game first and blockchain is a distraction from that.”

On the topic of game features and plans, the FAQ hits all the notes you’d expect:

– Box Fee and mandatory subscription, cash shop services (ex: name changes) and vanity items

– Yes, there’s PvP

– Yes, there’s PvE including Dungeons and Raids and an Endless Dungeon

– Yes, there are World Bosses

– 11 classes, 3 subclasses per class. All gear can be worn by all classes.

Will Abyss Online be any good? That certainly remains to be seen, but if you’re looking for more initial information (and an explanation about the past), check out the full FAQ.
