Jacob Elordi has emerged as a favorite to play Batman in the upcoming DC Comics film The Brave and the Bold and it’s not hard to see why.
Batman is one of the most iconic and beloved characters in the DC Comics universe. He first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in 1939 and has since become a cultural icon. Batman’s legacy with DC Comics has been a long and storied one, with the character appearing in numerous comic books, graphic novels, and television shows. He is known for his dark and brooding personality, his incredible detective skills, and his unwavering commitment to justice.
In recent years, Batman has made a return to the big screen with a number of critically acclaimed films. The Dark Knight trilogy directed by Christopher Nolan, which starred Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader, is widely considered to be one of the greatest adaptations of the character. The films were both commercially and critically successful and helped to further solidify Batman’s legacy as one of the most popular characters in the DC Comics universe.
More recently, actor Robert Pattinson has taken on the role of Batman via Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which became one of the most successful films of 2022. The film offered a fresh take on the character and generated a lot of excitement from fans of the franchise.
A sequel to the film was quickly greenlit and was confirmed to be moving forward amid changes to the DC slate, with Reeves’ Batman franchise set to operate outside of the DC connected universe as part of what James Gunn has referred to as the DC Studios’ Elseworlds slate. The move is one that will allow DC to then bring in a new Batman actor for its shared universe with this new Dark Knight expected to be introduced in The Brave and the Bold.
With a new Batman coming to the DC cinematic universe, fans have a lot of thoughts about who should play the character. One name that has been tossed out by many fans within the DC community is Euphoria star Jacob Elordi, who we have to confess definitely had what it takes to play the Dark Knight.
What Jacob Elordi could look like as Batman
Inspired by fans’ desire to see Jacob Elordi in the role of Batman, digital artist Josh “Clements.ink” debuted a stunning piece of concept art that imagines Elordi in the role of the Dark Knight.
In the breathtaking new concept art, Elordi is transformed into DC’s most iconic hero, donning his signature Batsuit. Although most of Elordi’s face is covered by Batman’s signature cowl, there’s definitely no denying he’s got the jawline to pull off the Caped Crusader — and also his alter ego Bruce Wayne.
What truly brings the art to life is seeing Elordi’s Batman standing against the backdrop of the city of Gotham and the GCPD. It’s that little touch that helps to create a full picture and gives a clear sense of how the character could fit within the DC Universe.
Is Jacob Elordi playing Batman?
Currently, DC has not announced any casting decisions for any of its upcoming films including The Brave and the Bold meaning it’s unclear whether Jacob Elordi will be playing Batman in the film. However, the actor is emerging as a fan favorite to play the role with his name often being tossed around and it makes sense.
Elordi is a star on the rise who has proven himself to be an incredibly talented actor in roles such as Euphoria. He also has the perfect build for a superhero role standing at a commanding 6’5 with a muscular physique that would make him the perfect candidate to play a character such as Batman.
The only thing that could prevent Elodri from playing the new Batman is the fact that James Gunn seems to be eyeing a Batman who would be older than Elodri. While Elordi could pass as a Batman in his early 30s, there are rumors that Gunn might be looking to have Batman be a few years older than Superman.
Given David Corenswet has been cast as Superman and is 30 years old, it’s likely DC might be looking for an actor in their mid-to-late 30s to play the role which would take Elordi out of contention. Still, we can’t shake the fact that he definitely has the physicality needed to play an amazing Dark Knight and could pass as early 30s should DC look to make Superman and Batman the same age in the new DCU.
Does Jacob Elordi want to play the new Batman?
While Jacob Elordi has not directly commented about playing a Marvel or DC character, he has expressed interest in starring in a blockbuster and actually shares a special connection to The Dark Knight.
During a 2022 interview with Vogue, Elordi revealed that it was seeing The Dark Knight as a boy that inspired him to pursue acting.
“When I was 11, I was in Coffs Harbor and I went with my dad to see Chris Nolan’s The Dark Knight. And I think that was the first time I remember watching Heath Ledger. And when he’s like ‘How about a magic trick?’ and he slammed that guy’s head into the pencil and the pencil disappeared. I was like, that’s what I want to do, whatever that is. That’s what I want to do.
I haven’t really made like a, you know, like a movie yet. And I think every time I go to the theater it’s hard not to sit there and be like, I want to do that.”
Given the impact The Dark Knight had on Elordi, it would be a true full-circle moment for the actor to suit up as Batman in a DC feature. Let’s hope James Gunn and company keep him on their radar when the time comes to cast their new Batman!
