New Glasgow Regional Police have zeroed in on two suspects after a string of graffiti-related vandalism early on Jan. 2 but haven’t made any arrests, according to spokesman Const. Ken MacDonald.
“These individuals have been identified and the investigation is still ongoing,” he said, shortly after he released photos of the suspects and asked the public for help. He wouldn’t say what led investigators to those people.
The update comes after several reports of graffiti on buildings and other structures in the downtown area, a portion of North Provost Street and on the town’s west side.
MacDonald said the black spray-paint graffiti wasn’t racist or offensive and property owners have already removed some of it.
“There is a difference between graffiti and art,” he added. “Causing damage to property can cost property owners significant amounts of money to clean it up.”
