If you’ve visited Miami, chances are you’ve dipped your toes in one of the sandy beaches. But have you experienced the coastal city sans sand? Here’s why you should venture off the boardwalk and Ocean Drive, and make your way inland to the Wynwood Arts District.
Known worldwide as a hot spot for street art, Wynwood was once a manufacturing hub. Today, the low- and midrise buildings house a mix of shops, galleries, music venues, and restaurants splattered with murals. Although it’s not a city mandate, it’s unofficially expected that every new building or business will dedicate 30 per cent of their exterior to some form of art. The area also has its first hotel, the recently opened Arlo Wynwood, a great base for a Miami visit that isn’t only about the beach. Here are just a few ways to explore the vibrant district.
