CR presents student artwork

College of the Redwoods is presenting the 2024 juried exhibition of student artwork in the Floyd Bettiga Gallery on CR’s main campus through May 3.

The work included in the show spans a range of media and styles, including realistic and abstract painting, life drawing, functional ceramics, landscape and conceptual photography, jewelry, and sculpture. It represents the breadth of CR Art Department offerings and the accomplishments of 2023-2024 CR students. A public reception, including the presentation of awards, will take place in the gallery April 17 from 2 to 5 p.m.

The judge of this year’s “Student Art Exhibition” is Assistant Professor of Painting at Cal Poly Humboldt Eliseo Casiano, a painter who documents time through portraiture. Using an interplay of vibrant color relationships and reference to light, he depicts radiant beings existing in space. Casiano will present student awards and discuss his selections in the gallery during the reception on April 17.

The College of the Redwoods Floyd Bettiga Gallery is in building 100 of the Creative Arts Complex, 7351 Tompkins Hill Road, Eureka, and admission is free. The gallery is open to the public Monday from noon to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, noon to 4 p.m., and by appointment. For more information, visit www.redwoods.edu/artgallery or call the Floyd Bettiga Gallery at 707-476-4155.
