The Keep it Clean Partnership is hosting the second Boulder St. Vrain Watershed Art Contest. All Kindergarten-12th grade students who live in and/or attend school in Boulder County are invited to participate in a free art contest with the chance to win art supplies and gift cards.
Artwork should explore the following prompt:
Our watershed is a complex and interconnected system of land, water, air, and the humans, plants, and animals they support. Each of these members plays an important role in keeping our watershed healthy and thriving. For this art contest, we challenge you to explore the role of one of these community members in our watershed.
Entries must be two-dimensional and created on an 8.5 x 11-inch piece of paper using any media. The deadline for submissions is 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time on November 17, 2023.
One Grand Prize winner and one Honorable Mention will be selected from each of the following four grade division categories: Kindergarten to second grade, third to fifth grade, sixth to eighth grade, and ninth to twelfth grades.
Prizes are valued at $75 for the Kindergarten to fifth grade categories and $100 for the sixth to 12th grade categories.
“This art contest is a fantastic chance to encourage students, families, and classrooms to explore their local waterways, tapping into them for both education and creative inspiration,” said Keep It Clean Partnership Coordinator Cristina Ramirez. “In our shared watershed, everything is interconnected. Just like we rely on clean water, plants and animals depend on it too. They’re as vital to this ecosystem as we are. This contest is an invitation for students to reflect on the importance of water, not just to us, but to every living thing in our community.”
