LAREDO, TX. (KGNS) – Laredo City Council members are looking to transform utility boxes across the Gateway City into pieces of art.
During this week’s city council meeting, the Fine Arts and Culture Commission proposed a utility box art program that would feature local artists and students.
Utility box art is a type of street art that involves transforming the boxes found on city streets into unique and eye-catching murals.
Phase one of this program would transform four utility boxes per district into pieces of art.
City leaders say this type of art also helps prevent graffiti and enhances the overall beauty of the cityscape.
As of now, the project is still in the planning phase.
