$1K reward offered for info resulting in arrest/conviction of graffiti vandals in Friday Harbor

The Town of Friday Harbor is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person, or people, responsible for a series of incidents of graffiti in Friday Harbor. The reward is offered as a means to put an end to the destruction of both public and private property. The reward is limited to one reward up to one thousand dollars but may be divided among persons providing information.

Much of the damage was done by spray paint. The most recent locations are buildings and structures near Coldwell Banker, Blue Water, China Pearl, Madrone Cellars, the Toy Box, Tina’s Tacos, Sotheby’s, Sunken Park and various OPALCO utility boxes in August 2023. “People have been hurt financially by these senseless acts,” said Town Administrator Denice Kulseth. “It is truly unfortunate that businesses and public resources have to be redirected in order to repair this damage.”

“The purpose of offering this reward is to stop the ongoing destruction of property belonging to the citizens, and to ensure that these activities do not escalate to other serious offenses,” Mayor Jackson said. “We cannot allow these crimes to be tolerated and should assist the Sheriff in their investigation.”

If the public would like to contribute to the reward fund, please contact Denise Kulseth, the Town of Friday Harbor Administrator, at denicek@fridayharbor.org, (360) 378-2810.

If you see acts of vandalism or graffiti in progress, call the Sheriff’s non-emergency line at (360) 378-4151. Never approach a vandal. For more information or to report information about an incident, the public can contact Town Hall by calling (360) 378-2810 or the Sheriff’s non-emergency line at (360) 378-4151.
