And here in Brooklyn, as you can see *** very great turnout, local artists and elected officials while they teamed up to put together *** free hip hop concert to celebrate news to Lindsay Tanny brings us to the event so we can tune in on some of the fun 50 years of the all popular genre bringing Brooklynites together for *** free concert. Over 20 local hip hop artists took the stage to perform their favorites for the community. All thanks to assembly woman, Nicky Lucas and council member, elect Chris Banks. They teamed up with DJ Keith Watkins and friends to put on the events. It’s great energy, man. It’s *** blessing to bring unity to the community. This is my dream. Watkins has been performing since the very beginning in 1973. I asked what hip hop means to him. It’s love for one another. It’s poetry. It’s all kind of things when it comes to hip hop. It’s *** culture that just bring it brings people together and it’s *** rhythm to make dance move. You know, the founder of video Music Box Ralph mcdaniels hosted the event. He wants to remind people that hip hop means much more than music, this community right here, East New York and the surrounding areas is where *** lot of the break dances. The graffiti artists came from the culture in general, people talk about hip hop. Sometimes they just talk about the artist but the culture was alive and strong and it still is. That’s all we did. They told me to be able to. Now, if you miss this year’s event, don’t worry. Assembly Woman Lucas tells me they’re planning on making this an annual event with next year being even bigger and better.
