Police said the graffiti was applied using green spray paint sometime between Sept. 8 and 14. It has since been removed by staff, police said in a release.

“Graffiti negatively impacts a community’s beautification. The removal or repair costs can be expensive, but it must be removed,” it said in the release. “Graffiti left unchallenged suggests a community that is apathetic about its appearance and most often leads to more graffiti being applied.”

Applying graffiti can be considered mischief under the Criminal Code of Canada, with mischief charges carrying a maximum sentence of 10 years in jail upon conviction, the release said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 1-888-310-1122, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, while a web tip can be submitted at www.cstip.ca
