Renowned South African designer Thebe Magugu, known for his collections imbued with compelling narratives and storytelling, has introduced customisable wax-print blouses allowing customers to personalise them with their own images and names. Each buyer who customises and purchases the shirt on his platform will receive a corresponding NFT version. Preorders are available on the designer’s official website and are set to be dispatched starting 10th December 2023. The ordering system has been developed in collaboration with Commission, a design and branding consultancy based in London, and Official Business, a digital design studio hailing from Britain.

These distinctive heirloom blouses, showcase black and white portraits while paying homage to the African tradition of wax prints that often depict significant historical figures. Magugu emphasises that when a customer inputs customisation details and their image, the platform will generate a real-time 3D full-360 preview of the tailored shirt, providing a perfect virtual glimpse of the final product. Magugu has allotted a production capacity of 400 wax-printed shirts, with room for alteration.
