A Tseung Kwan O Line train of the MTR Corporation was vandalized with graffiti, according to photos that went viral online on Sunday.
The train is believed to have been sprayed with tags in the early hours of Sunday, and there was not enough time for the workers to clean the train before the start of service.
The graffiti covering an area of about 22 meters by 1.5 meters.
Though it was a vandalism incident, some internet users said the graffiti brought a breath of fresh air to the dull and gray atmosphere of the MTR. Many praised it was prettier than the so-called art trains.
Some netizens stated they prefer to see these trains more than those with exteriors covered in advertisements.
Police were informed by the MTR Corp about the case this afternoon, and it was listed as criminal damage.
This was not the first time an MTR train had been covered in graffiti. An East Rail Line train was sprayed with tags in March 2018, which continued to pick up passengers as it could not be washed in time.
