‘Your Mental Health Matters’ aims to break stimga in all-day event

ISU is turning a national holiday of mourning into a safe space for students.

Event Management, Hospitality and Dining (EMDH) will be hosting the mental health event “Your Story Matters” at 11 a.m. on Monday in the Brown Ballroom of the Bone Student Center.

The event’s goal is to promote the importance of mental health and decrease the stigma associated with it. It is being hosted in collaboration with Student Government Association, Counseling Services and Health Promotion and Wellness. The event is split into three sections.

A company is coming to the first section to offer a brain station, an anonymous secret-sharing station, graffiti art and a fact or fiction game about mental health. This section runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

ISU entities will then present a resource fair offering information and services regarding mental health, physical health and well-being. This section runs from 5 to 7 p.m.

The event will end with guest speaker Josh Rivedal, a public speaker who focuses on suicide prevention and mental health.

Anyone who plans to attend can reserve a spot online.
