A new plasticine-inspired mural has been unveiled in Bristol city centre.

The 11.5m (37ft 7in) high mural on Quakers Lane is a collaboration between Cabot Circus, Aardman and street art festival, Upfest.

It was created by artist, Dave Bain, based on original artwork by Aardman illustrator, Lorna Harrington.

Mr Bain said: “This mural is a brilliant example of what can be achieved by working together as a creative community.”

“Lorna provided a great initial illustration for this piece, and it was inspiring to see the process of how Aardman’s animations are created in the process,” he added.

Aardman characters Shaun the Sheep, Wallace and Gromit and Morph can be seen in the mural, alongside famous Bristol landmarks, including Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol Children’s Hospital and the colourful houses by the Harbourside.

Aardman Animations has been based in the city since 1976.

Peter Lord, the co-creator of Morph, has visited the mural with a model of the beloved terracotta plasticine character.

He is smiling and holding his arm stretched out towards the camera. The orange Morph figurine is in the centre of the frame. The figurine is positioned with both arms up above its head.
