Local musician sings songs of joy

On stage, with the bright lights shining in Kiki Smith’s eyes, she can’t really see our expressions. But if she happens to glimpse our smiles as she sings and plays her guitar — “it makes me feel good.”

On Monday night, Smith, 35, played covers of “Glycerine” and “Seminole Wind” at the weekly open mic night at Black Cock Brewery before launching into an original song titled “Everything Is Perfect,” her voice sounding a bit like Nirvana dashed with Green Day. But like any great artist, she mostly sounded like herself.
