Montauk health foods store defaced with swastikas

  • German-language graffiti calling for all Jews to die was left at the Naturally Good store and cafe in Montauk
  • Another swastika was painted on a food truck at Ditch Plains beach
  • It is the latest indicator of rising antisemitism in NYC and its enclaves

A health foods store and beach food trucks in the trendy beach town of Montauk were defaced with swastikas last night in the latest instance of antisemitism to hit New York and its trendy enclaves since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7.

Swastikas were spray-painted in black ink at the Naturally Good Foods and Cafe, where ‘Jews die’ was also scrawled on fencing in German. Another swastika was spray-painted on food trucks at Ditch Plains Beach, a popular nearby surfing spot with the words ‘Free Palestine‘ written next to it.

The East Hampton Police Department is investigating both incidents.

In a statement posted online, the owners of Naturally Good promoted tolerance among the community.

We hope that the message of hatred which defaced our local business today serve as a reminder of the work that needs to be done.

‘The Naturally Good team and Montauk community is comprised of many different cultures, ethnicities and religions. Embracing each other makes the fibers of our community stronger.

Please join us in denouncing hatred in all its forms. Let us band together, as Montauk always does in times of crisis, and make our community safe and strong for our children and our neighbors.’

Business owner David told DailyMail.com: ‘It happened overnight, we don’t yet know if it was targeted or random. It is what it is.

‘We don’t want Naturally Good to become a flashpoint where this kind of thing defines us.’

One of the business owners is Jewish, but the fact other locations were also struck suggests it was random.

‘I would hope it is random. If someone has purposefully targeted us because my partner is Jewish, that makes it all the more upsetting,’ he said.

It’s unclear if the business owners were targeted specifically because they are Jewish.

The graffiti in Montauk, a pricey summer town known for being more laid-back than its Hamptons neighbors, is the latest indicator of intensifying antisemitism in New York.

In Manhattan, Jewish students at Cooper Union were last week forced to barricade themselves inside a building while pro-Hamas protesters hunted them down.

There have been numerous sightings of antisemitic signs at pro-Palestine protests organized by students of NYU and other schools.

NYU abhorred a female youngster who was spotted holding up such a sign at a protest last week.
