After a month being closed, while installing two new exhibits, the Explore & More – The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children’s Museum will open once again (also with new hours), starting on Wednesday, October 18.
The first new exhibit is the The Recycling Truck, by Modern Disposal. We all know that children love trucks. The bigger the better, and the more functional the better! Recycling trucks are pretty fascinating – not only how they operate, but the important work that they do for the environment. This particular truck has all of the bells and whistles, including operational lights, and rear view camera. As for the “green” element, kids can pick up various pieces of recyclable materials and deposit them in the correct slot. Now, that should come in handy. Finally, the the truck features ADA handrails, making it accessible to as many children as possible.
“The Modern group of companies and the Washuta Family are pleased to offer the families of Buffalo-Niagara Region a new exhibit at the region’s premier children’s museum,” said a representative of the Washuta Family. “The exhibit will feature a fully interactive recycling truck. The idea is that with this sponsorship, Modern helps teach younger generations of children – and their parents – about the importance of recycling and sustainability. Those benefits extend beyond our region to our state and nation as well.”
The second new exhibit is the Story Walk, in partnership with Gallagher Insurance and Alice, Ever Books. An example of Story Walk are the pages from the book City Feet, which have been placed around the museum. Visitors to the museum can read the book, on the go!
Meg Howe, owner of Alice, Ever Books states “Explore & More celebrates the power of child-led play, and Alice, Ever After Books promotes wonder through stories. This Story Walk exhibit gives families an opportunity to infuse their play and movement with literacy. We are thrilled to offer this experience to seek adventure through a story.”
Starting Wednesday, all of this, and so much more, will be open once again for families from across Western New York (and around the world) to visit.
The museum is opening to new hours for the school year, which are as follows:
Members Only Playtime:
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 9:30-10 AM
Open to the Public:
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday: 10 AM – 3:30 PM
Saturday: 10 AM – 5 PM
