Fans of Spongebob Squarepants can meet Tom Kenny, the voice of the popular cartoon character, today at the Owensboro Comic and Toy Convention. Kenny’s 12-piece band will also be performing a free concert tonight. The 2-day convention will feature several other high-profile guests including Warwick Davis (Return of the Jedi, Leprechaun), Pro Wrestling Hall of Famers Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Micke James, and comic creators/artists Kyle Starks (Rick & Morty) and Guy Gilchrist (Jim Henson’s Muppets).
The event will be held at the Owensboro Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. According to the event website, Kenny will only be in attendance Saturday but all other guests will be on site both days.
Kenny and his band — Tom Kenny & the Hi-Seas, self-described as a high-energy 12-piece “rock-n-soul” party band — will perform a free concert on the Kentucky Legend Pier at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
Guests will be available to sign autographs and take photos (prices vary).
The convention will offer various panels and workshops covering all things comics, cosplay, fandom, and more. All sessions will be open to both sides of the industry — both consumer and producer — to allow everyone to engage with each other and learn about other interests.
Exhibitors will be selling comic books, graphic novels, toys, games, and other merchandise. There will be a cosplay contest, complete with photo opportunities. In addition, tabletop games, card games, and video games will also be available during the convention.
