NEW HAVEN — U.S. Rep. Rosa L. DeLauro’s campaign office was vandalized with graffiti this week, according to her campaign manager
Christopher Carroll said Friday that he discovered the graffiti on the office’s windows when he arrived early Wednesday morning.
The messages read “free Palestin” and “blood on ur hands,” according to Carroll.
He said New Haven police had been notified of the incident and the windows cleaned. In addition, security cameras were being installed at the office, Carroll said.
“Violence, vandalism, and the destruction of property are never acceptable. Discussion and dialogue are the best way to address serious issues,” DeLauro, D-3, said in a statement about the graffiti.
“I am committed to making sure the staff and volunteers in my office are safe. I hope that moving forward people will know that they can get their message to me with a letter or a phone call rather than resorting to vandalism,” DeLauro said.
In a statement on Oct. 19, DeLauro said, “Israel has our unequivocal support as they seek to defeat Hamas. While they engage in that effort, they should take every precaution to protect innocent lives. As we work to ensure Israel receives the resources it needs to defend itself, I will work to ensure the Palestinian people quickly receive the humanitarian aid they need to survive.”
More recently, on Oct. 31, DeLauro called for a pause in the fighting to allow for the restoration of electricity and water in Gaza, the distribution of food, medicine and fuel, and the release of hostages.
