“Candy Cane Lane” director Reggie Hudlin is from East St. Louis

Reggie Hudlin, the East St. Louis native, was back in town to receive the lifetime achievement award from the St. Louis International Film Festival and stopped in at KMOX to talk about his latest project: directing “Candy Cane Lane” on Amazon Prime. The movie stars Tracee Ellis Ross and Eddie Murphy, whom Hudlin has known since he directed Murphy in “Boomerang” in the early 90s.

Hudlin has amassed quite a resume. He’s directed a number of movies and shows (“House Party” was added last year to the Library of Congress Film Registry), written comic books and graphic novels and was the president of BET from 2005 to 2008.
