The Jewish Community Council of Montreal was hit with a Molotov cocktail overnight.
The Montreal police (SPVM) confirmed an incendiary object was thrown at the door of the establishment at around 1 a.m. on Monday.
Damage was minimal and no injuries were reported.
The SPVM’s arson squad is currently investigating.
In an email to CityNews, Marvin Rotrand, the National Director of B’nai Brith League for Human Rights called for more police resources.
“Arresting the perpetrator(s) of the two recent firebombing attempts and three shootings at Jewish schools calls for a major increase in resources of the police hate squad unit. There needs to be arrests quickly to reassure the community,” Rotrand said.
The SPVM also confirmed that they are investigating vandalism committed at a school in Ville Saint-Laurent.
On Saturday afternoon, the director of the Maïmonide School contacted police after finding graffiti and a poster on the school’s property.
The SPVM located the vandalism once on the scene.
An investigation has been opened and it will likely be treated as a hate crimes, the SPVM said.
