The Chabad UF Jewish Student Center was vandalized early Friday morning with antiSemitic graffiti and hateful slurs.
The vandalism has been reported to police, and Chabad UF plans to increase its security protocols.
This person is wanted in connection with vandalism at the Chabad UF Jewish Student Center, 2021 NW Fifth Ave., in Gainesville.
“This is an attempt to intimidate us and the proud Jewish Life and learning Chabad UF provides to the students and community,” Rabbi Berl Goldman, Director of Chabad at UF in Gainesville, said. “We will not be cowed by hate, but will in fact double our efforts to strengthen Judaism, advocate for Israel and continue to bring light and joy to the UF, SFC and Gainesville communities.
“The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, who survived the evils of Bolshevik Russia, Nazi Germany, and Vichy France, famously said that the only effective response to anti-Semitism is to increase and strengthen Jewish activity and observance,” Rabbi Goldman said.
Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to call GPD at 352-955-1818 and notify Rabbi Berl Goldman at 352-336-5877.
