KDPS launches search for vandal accused of spray-painting hate speech graffiti

Public safety officers asked for help Tuesday in finding the person responsible for spray painting hate speech around downtown Kalamazoo.

The man seen in video surveillance is accused of spray painting swastikas on a wall and on Chanukah decorations outside of the Chabad of Kalamazoo Friday, according to the department.

He is also accused of spray-painting racist graffiti around Kalamazoo Valley Community College’s Arcadia Commons campus, public safety officers said.

However, these messages were not aimed toward the Jewish community. Police have not disclosed which group the messages targeted.

Anyone who may know the suspect is urged to call Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 269-337-8123.

Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.
