Lincoln man sentenced to federal prison for selling pounds of meth

A 52-year-old Lincoln man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for distributing pounds of methamphetamine in the area.

Senior U.S. District Court Judge John Gerrard sentenced Jesse Cervantes to the prison term, plus five years of supervised release, for possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of pure methamphetamine.

There is no parole in the federal system.

Acting U.S. Attorney Susan Lehr said in 2022 an undercover investigator with the Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force bought meth from Cervantes eight times, totaling about 9 ounces.

On May 19, 2022, investigators searched his vehicle and found two bags of meth weighing just under a pound. 

Lehr said Cervantes had obtained about 100 pounds of meth from one source in Omaha that March and five pounds from another.
