A video of the coffeehouse has gone viral on the internet. “There is a cafe in South Korea where everything is monochrome and like a drawing, making you feel like you are in a storybook,” writes Science Girl on X. It’s known as Cafe Yeonnam-dong 239-20.”
Why is it called Greem Cafe?
Greem, the cafe’s name, is derived from a Korean word that means “cartoon” or “painting.” According to Architectural Digest, it is also known as Cafe Yeonnam-Dong 223-14, which is merely the street address of the cafe.
On X, the video has had over 15.5 million views and a slew of comments. A member of the public commented, “I haven’t been there myself, but there’s an article saying that this cafe has gained more popularity among foreigners and has even secured franchise deals abroad.”
