Graffiti Adds Cinematic Twist to Alan Ruck’s Hollywood Crash

The incident that shook Hollywood last Halloween, when actor Alan Ruck drove his electric Rivian R1T truck into Raffalo’s Pizza in Los Angeles, has resurfaced in public memory with a touch of cinematic nostalgia. The restaurant, a victim of the accident that involved three other vehicles, was sprayed with the graffiti ‘Save Ferris’, a poignant reminder of Ruck’s role in the iconic film, ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’. The graffiti, however, has been removed since its appearance.

‘Save Ferris’: A Blast from the Past

The phrase ‘Save Ferris’ is a nod to Ruck’s cinematic past, specifically to the cult classic ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’, in which he starred alongside Matthew Broderick. Its appearance on the damaged wall of Raffalo’s Pizza introduced a reel-to-real twist to the accident, adding a layer of irony to the unfortunate event.

The Halloween Crash: A Chain Reaction

On October 31, 2023, Ruck, piloting his Rivian R1T, collided with three vehicles before finally crashing into the restaurant. Surveillance footage painted a detailed picture of the events leading up to the crash, revealing a chain reaction triggered by Ruck’s vehicle that culminated in the truck being lodged in the restaurant’s structure. Police ruled the collision an accident, speculating that Ruck’s unfamiliarity with the advanced technology of the Rivian R1T may have been a contributing factor.

Aftermath: A Lawsuit and a Knee Brace

While injuries were reported at the scene, none were life-threatening. Ruck, thankfully, tested negative for drugs or alcohol. However, one of the drivers involved, Horacio Vela, filed a lawsuit against Ruck, claiming severe injuries and damages. Days after the accident, Ruck was spotted wearing a knee brace, attributing its necessity to age and not the crash. The actor expressed his gratitude that no lives were lost and admitted to the police at the scene that he was uncertain about what caused the accident.
