MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) – After last week’s storm, Lee Carlisle was left with all of his work destroyed due to the wind and rain.
But thanks to the help of one other West Texas artist, Lee is back up again and painting.
For the last two years, Lee Carlisle has been offering West Texans unique street art.
But Lee’s paintings go deeper than just the stroke of a brush.
Before painting, Carlisle worked in the oil fields But his life took a turn when a couple of guys he knew stayed at his place and robbed him.
Only left with a few of his things Lee started painting as a way to make money.
“I just want to paint because I love painting and I want to help everyone I can with my paintings because I love helping people,” said Lee Carlisle, Carlisle Creations
And helping others is exactly what Lee tries to do every day.
Experiencing the struggles of being left homeless, Lee does whatever it takes to help others in need.
Lee has bought people in need new clothes and a hot meal because to him that’s what god wants.
“The point is, you’re supposed to help anybody you can. I mean god wants you to give to all in need that have nothing at all” said Carlisle
When last week’s storm made its way through Midland, Lee lost all of his work due to the wind and rain.
With nothing left for his work, a few West Texans took it upon themselves to help Lee by creating a GoFundMe page to help Lee get back on his feet.
“It’s just making the circle bigger because when they help me I can help other people even more and to see it’s not the concept of help while I can it’s help anytime I can, every time I can and whenever people help me I’m definitely gonna repay the community. I’m going to help anyone I can” said Carlisle
With the communities’ support Lee was able to get several canvases for his work as well equipment like new brushes and paint.
