Patty Lough Strubinger’s art showcased at Main Street Community Center

EDWARDSVILLE — Main Street Community Center now hosts several pieces by local artist Patty Lough Strubinger.

Strubinger currently teaches watercolors for senior citizens at the center through a grant made possible from the Edwardsville Community Foundation in partnership with the Edwardsville Art Center, according to a press release.

“The classes have been hugely successful, and after speaking with Patty and learning that she had over 60 years of experience under her belt, I knew we should display her artwork for the public to admire,” MSCC Executive Director Jessica Johnson said.

Strubinger grew up in South St. Louis, aspiring to be an artist at a young age. Growing up close to Tower Grove Park and the Missouri Botanical Garden heightened her love for nature and art.

Through the years she has been accepted into many national and international shows, receiving awards and selling locally and abroad. More recent exhibitions include a virtual event, “Inside the Tableaux” in April 2023 in New York.

She was chosen for display in Cheap Joe’s National Sales Catalog in 2022 and was a part of the St. Louis Watercolor Societies 23rd Annual Juried Exhibition from April-May 2022.

Strubinger has resided in Collinsville since 1984 with her husband Charles. Her collection is open for public viewing from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at 1003 N. Main St. in Edwardsville.
