Pokémon Co. says Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket doesn’t include NFTs

Just yesterday, Pokémon Co. revealed Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, an upcoming game for iOS and Android that lets players experience the fun of collecting Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) cards. Players will be able to open two booster packs every day at no cost and collect digital cards featuring nostalgic artwork from the past, as well as brand-new cards that are exclusive to Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. While the idea is certainly an exciting one, some fans were a bit worried about what the game might be hiding in plain sight.

More than a few people got their first look at Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket and thought the game was going to make use of NFTs. There have been plenty of gaming companies that showed interest in NFTs, but almost all of them saw their projects fail, or they called off those plans before launch. While some were concerned Pokemon Co. was heading down this route, we now have confirmation that that’s not the case.

Following the public concern about Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket and NFTs, Pokémon Co. has shared a statement with Polygon stating that NFTs are not a part of this or any Pokémon experience. You can see their full statement on the matter below.
