Vandals cause graffiti damage to downtown Youngstown building: Report

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Police say two people caused around $3,500 in damage to a building in downtown Youngstown.

Police took a report Friday about damage to the Wells building on W. Federal Street.

According to a police report, someone wrote on the building and sign on the fence next to the property with what appeared to be a large black permanent marker.

Employees reportedly noticed the graffiti on the building’s windows and porcelain tiles on the exterior when they arrived at work last Wednesday.

According to the report, surveillance video showed two males with a marker outside the building around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, and it appeared as if they were taking pictures or filming the graffiti on their cellphones.

The writing was removed from the windows but unable to be removed from the tiles, resulting in about $3,500 in damages, the report stated.
