A video circulating on social media shows a person parachuting off an unfinished high rise in Downtown Los Angeles. About 30 floors of the Oceanwide Plaza have also been covered in graffiti in recent weeks. Mayor Karen Bass says she’s concerned there’s going to be a tragedy if the entrances to the building are not boarded up quickly to keep trespassers out.
Bass says it will take a few days for new fences to be installed. In the meantime, police are guarding the perimeter of the building 24-seven. Bass says the owner, who ran out of money to finish construction in 2019, should reimburse the city for its efforts.
