PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Grab your paintbrush, box of chalk, or anything else that would help you become a sidewalk Picasso because there’s a street art festival going on in Panama City.
Today kicked off the 4th Annual Florida Luxe Festival in Downtown Panama City.
Included in the event was free street art, local vendors, and live music.
Both local and national artist painted the sidewalks from McKenzie Park to the center for the arts.
This event was started four years ago to bring new life to the streets of Panama City following Hurricane Michael.
Live music started this afternoon at 4pm and will be played all day tomorrow throughout the event.
Organizers say you don’t have to be an artist to participate in the fun.
”Its super important to us, especially Bay Arts Alliance. We want to put art on every corner. Which is just a fancy way of saying we want to make art accessible to everybody, regardless of socioeconomic status.” mentioned Jason Kretzer, the Executive Direct of Bay Arts Alliance. “This is one of the ways we can do that. By providing a free and safe space for people to come out . And you don’t have to just look at the art. You can participate in the art. Grab some chalk and grab some pieces with us.”
Tomorrow the FLLuxe Art Festival will start at 9am with a free yoga session on the front lawn of the Center for the Arts, and run until the end of the Flaming-Glow party in the building starting at 7pm.
All artist who participate in the festival will be paid.
