WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – The Arts Council held an artist reception for their most recent gallery at The Forum.
We attended the event and spoke with the artist about the importance of showcasing digital art.
There was a steady crowd of art lovers who came to view the exhibit during the artist’s reception.
This allows the public to meet the artist and ask them questions about their work.
All three artists work with digital art, but all in their own way.
Digital art is a growing field thanks to the advancement of technology.
Kristen Thueson, who is one of the artists and organizers for the gallery, talked about the importance of showcasing digital art as a whole, even when we are constantly surrounded by it.
“It’s important for especially young artists, but just any artist to see local people and local art in person that is being created that way. So you are taking out of that digital platform, out of social media, and giving everyone an opportunity to see it in real life.” Arts Council Wichita Falls, Kristen Thueson said.
She said that seeing things in a gallery gives inspiring young artists extra motivation.
She shared what it’s like to finally see her art in the physical form.
“I only see my artwork posted online or on my digital platforms, on my website. I don’t actually see it in the gallery. It’s really nice to be able to see what I intended to be the final product, which is a printed piece of art up on the wall, and be able to give people the opportunity to see my intended final vision of what my art to be.” Thueson said.
The artist wants viewers to enjoy the similarities and differences between their works, and their interpretation of digital art.
The gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday.
The last day to view the exhibit is April 26th.
