Amarillo Museum of Art to feature street art exhibition starting Saturday

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – The Amarillo Museum of Art (AMoA) will begin its showcase of the SWOON street art exhibition this Saturday.

Caledonia “Callie” Curry, whose work appears under the name Swoon, is a Brooklyn based artist who is known as the first woman to be recognized in the world of street art, according to a press release.

Callie’s work has been included in community-based projects and can be seen on the sides of buildings worldwide, the press release states. She recently has also begun using film animation to explore visual storytelling and is developing a project supported by the Sundance Institute Feature Film Program.

SWOON will be on display at the Amarillo Museum of Art from April 13 through August 11.

An exhibition reception will take place April 19. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres start at 6:30 p.m. and an artist talk with Caledonia Curry will follow at 7 p.m.

The reception is free for AMoA members and is $10 for non-members. Tickets will be available at the door.
