SAN ANTONIO – A summer of murals is coming to The Pearl!
The iconic San Antonio institution will see three all-new mural installations, each designed and painted by local artists, throughout this summer.
The first mural, titled Resilience, will be on display now through the end of June. The mural features hummingbirds, symbolizing joy, freedom, perseverance, creativity, love, and healing. This is paired with a prickly-pear cactus, representing resilience and endurance.
Guests at the Pearl had the opportunity to contribute to the mural during its installation last week.
“The elements in this mural highlight the essential qualities needed to thrive in challenging environments, mirroring the obstacles of life,” says Mauro de la Tierra, the artist behind the mural. “This installation celebrates the enduring spirit of San Antonio and the shared human experience.”
Mauro de la Tierra is a first-generation Mexican American, self-taught painter, and illustrator. He started his artistic journey with Street Art, slowly evolving to make pieces that emphasize whimsical and surrealist expressionism.
In July, artists Manola and Maria will be live painting a new mural in July, and the Doseum will design Pearl’s August Mural.
These installations will also include engaging, family-friendly art workshops, adding a creative and interactive experience to the community.
